FAQs
If your coffee machine will not operate, check the following:
- Ensure the coffee machine is plugged into the mains.
- Check that the power button is switched to on.
- Try the coffee machine in a different mains socket.
- Check to see if any circuit breakers have tripped.
- Replace the fuse in the plug with the same rating.
If your coffee machine has low water pressure, check the following:
- Clean or replace the coffee machines filters as the filters overtime get clogged with debris and coffee oils.
- Check the waterline for blockages.
- If your coffee machine is directly connected to a water source, check that the water line has become bent or kinked.
If the Coffee from the espresso tastes bitter or burnt, check the following:
- Check the grind size. If the coffee has been ground too fine, it will have a bitter taste (Check the instruction manual for recommended grind settings).
- Keep an eye on the brewing time, your shot should pull in 25-30 seconds. If it takes any longer, adjust the grind size or the size of your dose.
- Ensure the water in the coffee machine is hot but not boiling. If the water is boiling hot it will burn the coffee oils
If the Coffee from the espresso tastes weak or watery, check the following:
- Check the grind size. If the coffee has been ground too course, it will have a watery taste (Check the instruction manual for recommended grind settings).
- Ensure the right amount of coffee is being used (Check the instruction manual for the recommended amount of coffee to use).
If the steam wand is sputtering/not steaming, check the following:
- Thoroughly clean the steam wand. Over time mike residue can block the tiny holes on the tip.
- Check the steam line for blockages such as left over milk, which can cause pressure problems. Descaling the coffee machine regularly can help prevent this problem. Check the instruction manual for this procedure.
- Ensure the water is hot enough before using the steam wand. If the water isn’t hot enough you won't get enough steam pressure.
If there is water leaking from my coffee machine, check the following:
- Check the drip tray. If it’s overfilled or not installed correctly water can spill onto the worktop.
- Turn off the coffee machine, unplug it from the mains.
- Allow the coffee machine to fully cool down.
- Inspect all the machines connections, look for any cracks or damage in the hoses.
- Check the seals and gaskets for any cracks or perishing.
The method to descale your coffee machine may vary between models. We always recommend checking your products user manual for specific instructions.
- Turn off your coffee machine.
- Remove any water filters (check your manual for this step).
- Empty the grounds container and drip tray.
- Fill the water tank with fresh water.
- Add the recommended amount of descaling product (check the instruction manual or descaling product packaging).
- Turn on the coffee machine.
- If your coffee machine has a descaling programme, start the programme.
- If not, run water through the brew circuit in several short cycles.
- On coffee machines with a steam boiler, run some descaling solution through the steam wand.
- Pause between cycles to let descaling solution sit inside the machine and dissolve the scale.
- When the water tank is empty, rinse it out, then fill it with fresh water.
- Run several more tanks of fresh water through the brew and steam path, so that any remaining descaler can work.
