Online supportFAQs
Yes. Ring products require an existing home Wi-Fi network for setup and use, a smart device (phone or tablet) and the Ring app, which allows you to control all the functions of your Ring devices.
Ring products are designed to work with your home wifi network. Your Ring devices will not work with a mobile phone hotspot. Ring products do not support Bluetooth.
Ring devices don’t require a Ring subscription. Without a subscription, you can view real-time video for Ring doorbells and security cameras and answer doorbell notifications as they happen.
With a compatible Ring subscription plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account.
Assuming that the Ring device has a battery and is not a hardwired only device, it should last for several months depending on the level of use and operating environment.
The local weather
- At temperatures below 5°C, lithium polymer batteries are less effective at holding a charge. Since Ring devices use lithium polymer batteries, when the temperature drops below 5°C, it may be necessary to charge your battery more often.
Lots of activity
- The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using Live View often can also drain your battery faster.
- If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.
Power Settings
- You can go to Power Settings in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
- To access Power Settings, open the Ring app:
- Tap menu (≡) on the top left of the Dashboard.
- Tap Devices.
- Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
- Tap Power Settings to check your Battery Level percentage and Feature Power Usage.
- Tap a feature to adjust Snapshot Capture, Motion Frequency and Video Recording Length.
