Challenge Corded 32cm Rotary Lawnmower & 22cm Grass Trimmer

If the wheels have been threaded incorrectly, the wheels may loosen when being pushed.

On the right hand sick of the deck, tighten the SILVER BOLTS clockwise to secure.

On the left hand side of the deck, tighten the BLACK BOLTS anti-clockwise to secure. 

You may need to adjust the cutting height depending on the length of your grass and the amount that needs cutting. Simple, check the height setting for the mower and choose the desired height by changing the hole which the wheel is being screwed into. Ensure the black bolts are fitted to the left-hand side and tightened anti-clockwise, and the silver bolts are on the right-hand side and tightened clockwise.

If the product does not start, we recommend trying the following: 

• If using with an extension cable, check to see if the product works without the extension. If an unsuitable extension cord is used, it may not provide sufficient power. 
• Check that the product is connected securely to a mains plug socket. 
• Try an alternative mains plug socket. 
• Change the fuse in the plug. 

If the product is not reaching full power, we recommend trying the following: 

• Ensure a mains plug socket or a suitable outdoors extension cord is used. If an unsuitable extension cord is used, it may not provide sufficient power. 
• Ensure that the power source voltage is high enough or connect to an alternative plug socket. 
• Clean the air vents to remove any potential blockages.

If the product is providing unsatisfactory results, we recommend trying the following: 

• Replace the cutting device if it has become worn. 
• Check that the materials being cut are within the capacity of the product. 
• Ensure the cutting height has been set correctly and adjust if necessary. 

If the trimmer is not cutting properly, we recommend checking the condition of the cutting head itself to ensure the cutting line is not too short or damaged. If it appears to be damaged, please contact the Challenge team using the contact numbers on this page. 

Uneven cutting of grass can usually be caused by the grass collection or the length of the grass. 

If the lawnmower is cutting unevenly, check the following: 

• Check that there is not a build-up of grass clipping and debris. Ensure the mower is powered off completely and unplugged before removing the clippings. 
• Check that the grass is not too long for the cutting height. If the grass is quite long, we recommend adjusting the cutting height higher and only cutting a small amount at a time. 
• Check that there is no damage to the blades. If there is any damage, you may need to sharpen or replace the blade. Refer to your user manual for how to proceed with this. 

If the lawnmower is not cutting at all, check the following: 

• Check that there is not a build-up of grass clipping and debris. Before removing the clippings, ensure the mower is powered off completely and unplugged. Once any clippings are removed, carefully check to see if there is movement when turning. 
• Check that the grass is not too long for the cutting height. If the grass is quite long, we recommend adjusting the cutting height higher and only cutting a small amount at a time. Similarly, ensure that the cutting blade height is not too high that it is not touching the grass at all. 
• Check that there is no damage to the blades. If there is any damage, you may need to sharpen or replace the blade. Refer to your user manual for how to proceed with this.

It is normal for the lawnmower to make a noise whilst cutting due to the motor operation and the turning of the blades. However, if the noise seems abnormal or louder than usual, check the following: 

• Check that there is not a build-up of grass clipping and debris. Before removing the clippings, ensure the mower is powered off completely and unplugged. 
• Check that there is no damage to the blades. If there is any damage, you may need to sharpen or replace the blade. Refer to your user manual for how to proceed with this. 
• Check that the grass collection container is full. If it is full of clippings, then you may hear excess noise from the container. To resolve this, turn off, empty the container, and then turn on to resume operation.

If the lawnmower won’t start, try the following: 

• Press and hold the safety button before applying the power button/lever (check the user manual for the location of this button). 
• Check that the lawnmower is plugged in and turned on at the mains. 
• Try an alternative mains plug socket to rule out any issues with the socket. 
• Change the fuse in the plug.

If there is a loss of power when mowing, check the following: 

• Check that there is not a build-up of grass clipping and debris. Before removing the clippings, ensure the mower is powered off completely and unplugged. 
• Check that the grass is not too long for the cutting height. If the grass is quite long, we recommend adjusting the cutting height higher and only cutting a small amount at a time. 
• Check that the lawnmower is plugged in and turned on at the mains. 
• Try an alternative mains plug socket to rule out any issues with the socket. Change the fuse in the plug.

If the strimmer is not turning or spinning at all, check the following: 

• Check that there is not a build-up of grass clipping and debris. Before removing the clippings, ensure the strimmer is powered off completely and unplugged. Once any clippings are removed, carefully check to see if there is movement when turning. 
• Check nothing has trapped itself around the spinning element (such as garden twine or wire. 
• Check the strimmer has sufficient power. If it is a cordless strimmer, ensure the battery is charged or the fuel tank has been filled. If it is a corded strimmer, ensure it is connected to power. 
• Clean the vents of any debris to ensure proper airflow. 

If the strimmer is not cutting or is cutting poor, check the following:

• Check that there is no damage to the blades or lines. If there is any damage, you may need to sharpen or replace the blade or lines. Refer to your user manual for how to proceed with this. 
• Check nothing has trapped itself around the spinning element (such as garden twine or wire. 
• Check that there is not a build-up of grass clipping and debris. Before removing the clippings, ensure the strimmer is powered off completely and unplugged. Once any clippings are removed, carefully check to see if there is movement when turning.

If the cutting line is breaking or getting tangled, check the following: 

• Check that there is not a build-up of grass clipping and debris. Before removing the clippings, ensure the strimmer is powered off completely and unplugged. Once any clippings are removed, carefully check to see if there is movement when turning. 
• Check that the correct type and size of the cutting line is being used. Refer to your user manual for specifications for the cutting line and adjust the tension if necessary. 
• Avoid hitting hard objects like rocks or stones when cutting as this can result in the line breaking. 
• Ensure the right amount of strimmer line is used. Too much line can catch easily and break.
