If your hedge trimmer will not start, check the following: - 

• Check that the hedge trimmer is plugged into the mains power.
• If an extension lead is being used, check that it is suitable for outside use.
• Ensure the safety switch has been pressed correctly.
• Change the fuse in the plug, using a fuse with the same rating.

If your hedge trimmer loses power under load or runs slowly, check the following: - 

Caution: Always unplug the hedge trimmer from the mains power before carrying out any maintenance on your hedge trimmer.

•  Check and remove any obstructions from the blade such as twigs or leaves.  
•  Try using a shorter heavy duty extension lead especially made for tools.

If the blades are leaving jagged edges or not cutting evenly, check the following: - 

Caution: Always unplug the hedge trimmer from the mains power before carrying out any maintenance on your hedge trimmer.

• The blades may blunt or damaged - Sharpen or replace the blades. Please check your user manual for this procedure.
• The blades maybe misaligned – Check the alignment and adjust if necessary. Please refer to your user manual for this procedure.
• Build-up of sap – Sap can build up on the blade. Clean the blades with a suitable solvent. Please check your user manual for this procedure.
