If your wired controller isn’t detected by the Nintendo Switch, check the following:
- Check that the USB cable is firmly seated in both the Switch Dock and the controller.
- Power reset the Switch and controller:
- Turn off the Switch and the controller.
- Unplug the USB cable from the controller and Dock.
- Wait for 15 seconds.
- Plug the USB cable back into the controller and Dock.
- Turn on the Switch and the controller.
- Some controllers require enabling in System Setting – Controllers and Sensors – Pro Controller Wired Communication.
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your controller:
- Go to System Settings - Controllers and Sensors – Firmware Update.
- If an update is available, download and install the update.
If your wired controller is connected, but the buttons aren’t responding correctly, try resetting and recalibrating the controller (check the controller’s user manual for this procedure). You can also recalibrate the affected stick via the Switch system setting menu:
- System Settings - Controllers and Sensors - Calibrate Control Sticks
Caution: This will reset the controller to its default settings.
- To reset your wired controller, go to System Settings – Controllers and Sensors – Reset.
