CAMPING FIREPIT

If your fire pit is hard to light or won’t stay lit, check the following: 

• Ensure you are using dry, seasoned hard wood, as damp wood smoulders and extinguishes easily. 
• Don’t overfill the fire pit, leave space between the logs so that air can circulate. 
• If your fire pit has vents, check that they are not blocked with ash. 

If your fire pit produces excessive smoke, check the following: 

• Ensure that the wood you are using is not wet, but kiln-dried or seasoned. 
• Ensure logs are elevated on the supplied grate/grid and not placed on ash. 
• Empty the accumulated ash regularly as excessive ash bed can choke the airflow. 

If your fire pit doesn't produce much heat, check the following: 

• Ensure you don't load too much wood at once, as this can restrict air flow. 
• Try not using undersized or small logs as they burn quickly without building a coal bed. 

If ash and embers are blowing out of the fire pit, check the following: 

• Avoid using the fire pit in windy conditions, try finding a sheltered outdoor location. 
• Ensure the fire pit is placed on a solid, level surface, this will prevent an uneven airflow.
