Ceramic hobs

Hack 1: Baking soda and vinegar

  1. Start by sprinkling baking soda over the ceramic hob surface.
  2. Then, pour small amount of white vinegar over the baking soda. Be careful not to pour too much but pour enough that it covers the affected area in a thin layer.
  3. The mixture will begin to bubble and begin to break down dirt and stains.
  4. Allow the mixture to sit for 15 minutes.
  5. Use a soft cloth or sponge to gently scrub the surface to remove the dirt.
  6. Finally, rinse with warm water and dry with a clean cloth.

Hack 2: Lemon and salt

  1. Cut a lemon in half and dip in a bowl of table salt.
  2. Scrub away stains using the lemon. The abrasiveness of the salt and citric acid can remove stains and residue. Be sure not to press too hard to avoid any damage.
  3. Once the stains are removed, wipe over the hob with a damp cloth and then dry with a dry cloth.

Steel hobs

Hack 1: Vinegar and olive oil

  1. Create a mixture of equal part water and white vinegar in a spray bottle.
  2. Spray the mixture onto the hob, aiming specifically at any affected areas of stubborn stains.
  3. Allow it to sit for a few minutes, and then wipe over with a dry microfibre cloth. Follow the grain of the stainless steel to clean effectively and provide a streak-free finish.
  4. Buffer the hob with a separate cloth and a small amount of olive oil to provide a shiny finish.

Hack 2: Baking soda and washing up liquid.

  1. Create a cleaning paste using a mixture of baking soda and a few drops of washing up liquid.
  2. Apply the paste to the job, specifically at any affected areas of stubborn stains.
  3. Use a soft cloth or sponge to gently scrub the surface. Follow the grain of the stainless steel to clean effectively and provide a streak-free finish.
  4. Finally, rinse with warm water and dry with a clean cloth.

Induction hobs

Hack 1: Vinegar and water

  1. Mix white vinegar and water together in a spray bottle.

  4. Use a dry cloth to wipe the hob to prevent water spots or streaks.

Hack 2: Baking soda and white vinegar

  1. Create a paste using a combination of baking soda and a small amount of water. Mix until it is a thick paste.
  2. Apply the paste to the stains and stubborn dirt.
  3. Allow the mixture to sit for 15 minutes. The mixture will begin to break down dirt and stains.
  4. Use a soft cloth or sponge to gently scrub the surface in a circular motion.
