FAQs

The Blink Mini is lightweight and versatile. It doesn't use batteries, and does not need a Sync Module to operate or provide features.

You can add the Mini to any system with a Blink Video Doorbell and have the doorbell chime play through the Mini. This way you can be alerted to visitors when you are not near your phone, or if your home doesn't have a chime installed.

Add your Mini camera to any system (including Mini or Video Doorbell cameras) for group arm, disarm, and scheduling features.

No, Mini just requires 5 volt, 1amp, standard USB power through the included adapter, and an always-on Wi-Fi internet connection. Mini does not need a Sync Module, but is compatible with one. Adding the Mini to an existing system allows for shared scheduling. Add Mini to a doorbell system and it can act as a chime for the doorbell.

Yes, Mini can be added to any Blink System, even the Blink Video Doorbell. If you had an account on or before April 15, 2020, media storage for your Mini operates like the other camera systems you already have.

No, the Mini camera is only for indoor use.

The supplied USB cable extends to approx. 76 inches (193 cm).

The Blink Mini was not designed to detect motion through glass and the results can be unreliable; therefore, we do not recommend using your Mini to detect motion through a window.

Your Mini Pan-Tilt Mount needs to be calibrated to maintain accuracy of movements and optimal device performance. If you reposition it or move it to another location, you can manually perform a calibration.

Unplug your Pan-Tilt Mount from the power source and then plugging it back in.

You can also do this manually in the app:

  • Tap the More button in the lower right of your Mini Pan-Tilt Camera thumbnail image on the Home Screen.
  • Select Device Settings and then Pan-Tilt Settings.
  • On the Pan-Tilt Settings screen tap Calibrate Pan-Tilt Mount
  • Next, tap Calibrate at the bottom of the screen.
  •  When calibration is successful, you’ll see a ‘Calibration complete’ message at the bottom of the Pan-Tilt Settings screen.

This reset button can be used when you add your Mini to a new or existing Blink system or when you move your Mini to a new location or Wi-Fi network.

  • The Blink Mini has a reset button on the bottom side of the camera.
  • When a Mini displays a solid red light, a long press of the reset button (more than 5 seconds) will reset the camera and enter setup mode.
  • When blue light slowly blinks, the camera is ready to be added to a system.

Resetting the Mini does NOT:

  • Reset camera settings to defaults.
  • Remove the thumbnail image.
  • Delete the camera from a system or account.
  • Make certain that the Blink Mini is the only camera you have connected to the Pan-Tilt Mount.
  • Check that the Blink app is up to date. It is important that you use the most current version of the Blink app to have full compatibility with your Pan-Tilt Mount.

If your Pan-Tilt Mount speed or movements aren’t normal, it may be due to using a third-party USB cable or power adapter. It is important to use only the supplied USB cable and power adapter that are included with your Mini camera or Pan-Tilt Mount camera bundle. In addition, extension leads and extension cables may also affect the motor’s functionality if they aren’t supplying the correct amount of power to your unit.

If the Mini camera connected to your Pan-Tilt Mount produces upside-down live views or clips, check the Flip Video setting for your camera. This setting needs to be enabled when mounting to ceilings or disabled again if this is no longer the case.

(Pan-Tilt Mount is made to work exclusively with Blink Mini Gen 1 and it isn’t compatible with Mini 2).

When you are in Live View, you can fully operate your Pan-Tilt Mount by tapping on the horizontal and vertical motion controls.

  • A single tap will move your camera in 1° increments.
  • Tap and hold actions will move your camera in the appropriate left, right, up and down directions, until you lift your finger or the limit is reached.
  • To set the default view, first move your camera to the desired position and then tap More.
  • Next, select Update Default View and tap Update to save it.
  • When you operate your motion controls, you can now select Default View to return your camera to your saved position.

If your view range is not a full 360°, it could be due to incorrectly mounting your Mini camera. Make certain your Pan-Tilt Mount is connected to the bottom of your Mini and not the back mounting point. Otherwise, your range of motion will be restricted.

Ensure that you place your Pan-Tilt Mount in a location where it has enough clearance to fully move in all directions. This will most often occur if the unit is placed too close to a wall or other objects.

Initially the default home position is 180 degrees pan position from the USB port and 90-degree tilt position from the base. If this changes, or the Pan-Tilt Mount doesn’t return to a new default position you set, you’ll need to update your Default View.
