FAQs

Do not epilate moles with hairs. You can safely pass the epilator over small, flat moles. The lymphatic vessels are located deeper in the skin and there is no risk of damaging them when you epilate. If you are concerned, consult your doctor. Epilation does not cause spider veins. If you have spider veins, we advise you to consult your doctor before using an epilator on the part of skin where these veins are located. If you have varicose veins you should not epilate your legs - contact your doctor if you intend to epilate.

If you are epilating regularly, the result lasts up to 3 weeks.

If your appliance produces an odd sound or its motor runs at an abnormal speed, please check the following things:

  • It's possible that you're pressing the appliance too firmly onto the skin. Try pressing the appliance less hard on the skin.
  • You may be using the appliance at the wrong voltage. Make sure the voltage indicated on the adapter corresponds with the local voltage.
  • Check if the epilating head has been cleaned properly. If it is not clean, remove the epilating head from the appliance and clean it.
  • Are you using the appliance professionaly? This appliance is only intended for home use. If you use the appliance professionally, it will reach the end of its life earlier.
  • Check the appliance and the epilating head for broken parts. If the epilating head is damaged, replace it.
  • If you hear loose parts rattle inside the appliance, stop using it and contact Philips Consumer Care.

If the appliance continues to produce an odd sound or run too fast and this is not due to broken parts, please contact Philips Consumer Care Center as well. You can do this by calling 02079 490 240.

The time required for epilating the different areas depends on the density and thickness of the hair. On average:

  • Epilating both legs takes 10 minutes
  • Epilating the underarms takes 5 minutes
  • Epilating the bikini line takes 5 minutes

There are several reasons why your epilator may not remove hairs properly:

  • The optimum hair length for epilation is 3-4 mm, maybe your hair is too long or short.
  • If it is too long, trim the hair to the optimal length.
  • If the hairs are too short, wait a couple of days and try to epilate again.
  • Ensure that your skin is clean, entirely dry and free from grease.
  • Place the epilation head in a right angle onto the skin (90° between skin and epilation head).
  • Move the epilator slowly against the direction of hair growth.

Pulling out hairs causes irritation around the follicles, which can result in red spots. Especially when you have not used your epilator for a while, it is normal that some skin irritation occurs. Your skin may need to readjust to the depilation process. In order to avoid skin irritation, we advise you to pay attention to the following:

  • Make sure that the epilating head is clean.
  • Do not use any pressure when moving the appliance over skin.
  • Make sure you exfoliate your skin every time you shower. Exfoliating removes the dead skin around the follicles, so the hairs will slide out more easily and not tear the surrounding skin.
  • After epilating gently rub in antiseptic (after epilation) cream, such as a mild, alcohol free lotion on the depilated area of your skin.

Speed 1 is intended for epilating:

  • Areas with little hair growth
  • Hard-to-reach areas
  • Areas with bones directly beneath the skin, such as knees and ankles

Speed 2 (higher speed) is intended for epilating:

  • Larger areas
  • Areas with more hair growth NB: You can only select Speed 2 while the epilating head is attached.

The epilator will catch even the shortest hairs of 0.5 mm. To allow optimal epilation, the hairs should not be longer than 1.5 cm. The optimal hair length for epilation is 3 - 4 mm.

No, the appliance may only be used dry, without any shaving foam, lotion etc. After epilating, you can rub a mild, alcohol-free cream onto the epilated area to prevent reddening of the skin or skin irritation.
