FAQs

Remote access is automatically enabled when you set up WEMO, as long as the network you are using has an Internet connection.  With remote access enabled, you can control your WEMO devices from anywhere your iOS or Androiddevice has an Internet connection.  This includes other Wi-Fi networks or your 3G/4G mobile connection.  When theWEMO App is launched outside your home, the App contacts the Belkin cloud, where it redirects the phone's request to the appropriate WEMO unit(s), and then you can see and control all of your WEMO devices.
WEMO uses your home network to create its own WEMO network.  Using the WEMO App on your tablet or smartphone, you can control your WEMO devices from anywhere in your home. When you set up a WEMO , give it a name, add a picture or create rules - all the information is stored on the WEMO itself. This means that you don't need a hub or a dedicated controller in your home in order for WEMO to work. You can easily control multiple WEMO units from different iOS and Android devices. Some routers have a maximum amount of devices they will support. Therefore, some WEMO users may see other devices drop off their network, or their network may limit the number of WEMO units they can connect.
The motion sensor will sense movement within a 10-foot range.
Make sure that your wireless network is broadcasting at 2.4 GHz frequency and that it supports the Wireless-B, -G or -N standards.  Also, make sure that the router’s wireless network name (SSID) is set to broadcast.  If your SSID is hidden, WEMO may experience difficulties connecting or staying connected to your network. You can also change your router’s wireless channel to avoid interference with other routers in your area that possibly uses the same wireless channel as yours.
If you just purchased and installed a new WEMO device, the firmware in it may not be the most current.  Depending upon when the WEMO device was manufactured, its firmware may have been released before a Transition Firmware was released. A Transition Firmware is a firmware that makes a major change from one firmware type to another. If your WEMO device has a firmware version lower than a Transition Firmware, it will first need to update to that one before continuing to the most current version.
