If there is ice build-up in the fridge, try the following:

  • Ensure there is the correct clearance around the appliance. This will be stated in your user manual.
  • Ensure it is located in an area of a similar temperature between 10-32 degrees.
  • Check that the door is closing properly and there is no debris in the seals.
  • Avoid over-filling the appliance and ensure nothing is touching the back.
  • Check that the fridge is on a setting between 3 and 4.
  • Keep the appliance away from any heat sources.

If there is a smell coming from the appliance, try the following:

  • Check the door seals and ensure they are clean.
  • Empty and wipe out the drip tray at the back of the appliance above the compressor tank.
  • Check food has not leaked anywhere and keep on top of food maintenance.

If appliance isn't cooling, try the following:

  • Ensure there is the correct clearance around the appliance. This will be stated in your user manual.
  • Ensure it is located in an area of a similar temperature between 10-32 degrees.
  • Check that the door is closing properly and there is no debris in the seals.
  • Avoid over-filling the appliance and ensure nothing is touching the back.
  • Check that the fridge is on a setting between 3 and 4.
  • Keep the appliance away from any heat sources.
  • Check the power is coming on correctly and, if necessary, try an alternative mains socket and fuse.
  • If your appliance is exposed to direct sunlight, close curtains or blinds. If practical, relocate the appliance to a shaded position (refer to your instruction manual for guidance on moving your appliance safely).
  • Avoid opening the fridge door frequently (especially in hot weather), because each time you open the door warm air enters. The fridge then has to work harder to restore the correct temperature.

Higher temperatures increase the workload of your fridge, leading to more condensation as part of the cooling process. This can result in the drip tray filling more quickly than usual.

Check the drip tray at the back of the appliance and empty it if it is full or overflowing.

The drip tray is usually located at the rear of the appliance. Refer to your instruction manual if you are unsure of its exact location.
