Note: A factory reset removes all your personal data and downloaded content, returning the device to its original factory settings. From the home screen, swipe down to open the Quick Actions or select Menu.
- Select Settings or All Settings.
- Go to Device Options or select Menu.
- Select Reset. For older devices, select Reset Device again.
- When prompted, select Yes to confirm.
Note: Upon completion of a factory reset, your device is deregistered from your Amazon account. To use the device, register it again.
- Press and hold the power button until either a power dialog box appears or the screen goes blank.
- Continue holding the power button for 40 seconds, then release.
Note: After a few seconds, the charge indicator light turns back on and the device reboots.
- Confirm other devices connect to the same network.
Note: Other devices can't connect? Or forgot your Wi-Fi password? Please contact your network provider.
- Make sure that Airplane mode is off.
- Confirm that your device has the latest software version available.
- Restart your Kindle and any network devices like modems or routers.
- Attempt to connect your Kindle to Wi-Fi again or add a network manually.
- From the home screen, swipe down to open the Quick Actions menu or select the Settings icon. If reading a book, tap the top of the screen.
- To adjust the brightness, use the scale or the + or - buttons for gradual change. To maximize or turn off the front light, long press of the + or - buttons on compatible Kindle devices.
Compatible Kindle devices have a setting above the screen light controls to activate Dark Mode.
If the unit is operating slow than normal, try the following:
